Our Tamarind Wood Butcher Block chopping boards are crafted from a single block of 100% solid tamarind wood.
An underrated material for chopping boards and butcher blocks, tamarind wood has been a reliable companion for professional butchers in India for ages. With its naturally antimicrobial features, high strength, and durability, matured tamarind wood chopping boards and butcher blocks provide a knife-friendly chopping surface that adds a rustic charm to your kitchen and home. Perfect for chopping and cutting meat and vegetables, but also serves as a charcuterie board.
Durability: Tamarind wood is known for its durability. Aged tamarind wood is rugged, durable, and strong. Often used in building boards, construction sites, and furniture, tamarind wood is known for its heavy-duty use in various industries. It is resistant to cracks and warping with proper care.
Sustainability and Eco-Friendliness: Sourced from fallen trees at Amra farms and surrounding areas, we ensure responsible and sustainable farming practices. We replace every tree used with a new one to maintain balance. We do not use chemicals or glues in manufacturing our chopping boards.
Natural Beauty and Unique Appearance: Unlike woods used for furniture, tamarind wood, though extremely durable and weight-bearing with its heavy-duty nature, has a different appearance. It is light-colored and has distinct grain patterns, making every piece unique.
Multipurpose Use: Our tamarind wood butcher blocks are a bit heavy at 2-inch thickness but can be used for more than chopping meat and vegetables:
Easy Maintenance: The tamarind butcher block is treated with food-safe coconut oil for a smooth, glossy finish. We recommend oiling your board once a week with any food-safe oil, preferably coconut oil. Maintenance of the tamarind wood butcher block is required after every use. Wipe clean and rinse with warm water. Use mild soap. Do not use hard wires.
