Loved the Butcher Block teak wood board . It is 1 inch thick and Really heavy. Stays in place when cutting Meat and does not move around while cutting fish or chicken. I completely deboned a chicken on this board and my pervious board would be all around the place if i tried to do that

Is spalted tamarind a hardwood?

Spalted tamarind wood is usually seen on the sapwood and not the heartwood. The sapwood of tamarind is known to be dense and often harder than teak on the hardness scale. Technically, spalted tamarind wood is considered hardwood.

Is spalted wood toxic?

Spalting happens due to fungal activities, and the spalted area is technically rotten. But this does not make the wood toxic. The spalted area is void of any life and is safe.

Is spalted wood safe for cutting boards?

Not all spalted wood is safe for cutting boards. Some wood is safer. This depends on the variety of wood and the density of the wood itself. Tamarind wood is dense, and the spalting is more decorative and has no toxicity to it, making it safe.

What is spalted tamarind wood?

Spalted tamarind wood is the striking hardwood featuring a pale creamy or golden base with accented dark, intricate lines caused by fungal activity. The natural process creates a unique pattern more or less like veins or lightning strikes.
